Twitter is Forever and so is Your Social Media Profile

Just saw this post All Things Digital: Careful What You Say On Twitter–Delete Option Removed? (Updated) that Twitter has removed the option to delete posts.  Yikes!  Just a reminder that your online life is visible and forever.  Be careful what you say and how you blur the lines between your public/professional life and your real/personal one online.

Twitter tools:

  • TweetDeck – Desktop application for interacting with Twitter.  So far I like it better than Twirl or the Tweetbin Firefox extension I’ve tried in the past.
  • Twitter Karma – Manage your Twitter follows and followers.  The best part?  Sort by just those people following you but that you are not following.  Wish there was a way to make a note on a follower to say why I decided not to follow back (e.g. posts are always in Russian).
  • Twellow – Twitter search
  • TweetWheel – Visual display of your Twitter followers and their interconnections.

    Hi Sheri,

Great post. I found a couple of new tools to use.

Thanks for the link to the SageCircle Analyst Twitter Directory. There is also a companion Twitter directory for analyst relations (AR) professionals that you can find in the left nav bar of the SageCircle blog or http://www.sagecircle.wordpress.com/directories/ar-twitter-directory/. Both directories are usually updated weekly.

We have written a number of posts (55+ and counting) about the implications of social media for vendor AR teams and industry analysts (see category http://www.sagecircle.wordpress.com/category/social-media/ ).

    Cheers, Carter Lusher
